Are you eligible for the activity bonus?

The Activity Bonus is a financial assistance program for people with low earned income. Are you eligible?

It is paid monthly, in arrears, and the amount is calculated based on the income reported for the previous quarter. The Activity Bonus may be adjusted upward or downward depending on changes in personal or professional circumstances.

If you own your home, you can still receive the Activity Bonus. However, the amount of the benefit will be reduced based on the number of people in your household. For example, for a single person, €66.18 will be deducted from the calculation of the Activity Bonus.

The Activity Bonus is not taxable and therefore does not need to be reported as income. This benefit is intended to encourage people to return to work—even in low-paying jobs—and it would be counterproductive to tax it.

A bonus for foreigners, too

As a foreigner working in France, you may also be eligible for the Prime d'activité, subject to certain conditions. In particular, you must reside in France on a stable and continuous basis and hold a valid residence permit that allows you to work. However, workers temporarily assigned to France are not eligible for this benefit.

Be sure to notify your Family Allowance Fund (CAF) or your Agricultural Social Mutual Fund (CMSA) of any changes that could lead to an adjustment in the amount of your Activity Bonus, such as a change of address, family status, employment, income, or assets.
