The climate emergency: a major challenge for the government
Faced with the critical challenge of combating global warming, the housing sector—which accounts for 11% of greenhouse gas emissions in France—has become a strategic focus. The government has set an ambitious goal: to carry out 700,000 energy-efficiency renovations per year.
To support this effort, a substantial budget of 4 billion euros was allocated in 2024 through the MaPrimeRénov’ program. However, despite these measures, many households continue to face challenges, including complex administrative procedures and a lack of clear information, which are hindering their renovation projects.
Mes Aides Réno: A Tool to Simplify Projects
To address these challenges, France Rénov’ developed the Mes Aides Réno simulator. Available at mesaidesreno.beta.gouv.fr, this free tool is designed to help homeowners—whether they live in their homes or rent them out—understand the financial assistance available for renovating their homes and the out-of-pocket costs remaining after applying for such assistance.
Simple and intuitive, the simulator collects key information: the owner’s status, the type of residence (primary or secondary), income, the year the home was built, its location, and its energy efficiency rating (DPE). With just a few clicks, users can access a personalized estimate of available financial assistance, whether it’s national programs like MaPrimeRénov’ or specific local support initiatives, as well as solutions such as the zero-interest eco-loan.
Meeting Households' Expectations
This initiative is part of a strategy for enhanced support led by the National Housing Agency (ANAH). A survey conducted by the National Agency for Housing Information (ANIL) in 2023 revealed that 69% of households found accessing information on assistance programs too complicated. Faced with fluctuating eligibility criteria, a multitude of assistance programs, and fears of fraud, many households chose not to take the first steps toward applying.
With “Mes Aides Réno,” the government hopes to remove these barriers through a user-friendly interface and detailed information tailored to each situation. For example, the tool distinguishes between grants intended for comprehensive renovation projects—aimed at significantly improving a home’s energy efficiency—and those dedicated to specific measures such as insulation or replacing the heating system.
Once the simulation is complete, the user can be connected with a France Rénov’ advisor to finalize their project and receive personalized support.
Accelerating the Energy Transition
To maximize its impact, Mes Aides Réno was designed to be integrated into partner platforms, thereby enabling targeted and relevant dissemination of information. By simplifying access to financial assistance and making the process clearer, this tool serves as a major incentive for households to undertake energy-efficiency renovations.
By making these projects more accessible, the government hopes not only to meet its climate goals but also to help improve the thermal comfort of homes and reduce households’ energy bills. This represents a concrete step toward a sustainable energy transition.
