New Measures Regarding Regulated Savings Rates
Following the announcement made in mid-July by Bruno Le Maire, an official decree was published, freezing the interest rates on the Livret A and other regulated savings accounts for several months (Official Journal of July 29).
Thus, from August 1, 2023, to January 31, 2025, the interest rates on the following savings accounts will remain unchanged: 3% for the Livret A, the Livret de Développement Durable et Solidaire, and Crédit Mutuel’s special savings accounts. After taxes and social security deductions, the rate is 2.25% for the corporate savings account and 2% for the home savings account (excluding the government bonus). No interim adjustments are planned for these three rates during this period.
Regarding the popular savings account (LEP) for the period from August 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, its interest rate has been slightly reduced to 6%, down from 6.1% since February 1, 2023. It should be noted that this rate may be revised during these 17 months if changes in inflation or money market rates warrant it. Potential revision dates are October 15, 2023, April 15, 2024, or October 15, 2024.
