An innovative system to facilitate access to ultra-high-speed broadband
The government provides financial assistance to low-income households that do not have internet speeds exceeding 16 Mbit/second.
This assistance, provided as part of the Digital Cohesion for Territories program, enables households to access high-quality Internet service through approved wireless or over-the-air technologies. These solutions include satellite, radio local loops (which use a network of antennas installed by a specialized operator), and fixed 4G (a dedicated router provided by Internet service providers).
The amount of this assistance ranges from €300—which is means-tested—to up to €600 for the lowest-income households, particularly those receiving basic social assistance (RSA, AAH, ASS, ADA, etc.).
This subsidy helps reduce the costs associated with purchasing, installing, or setting up wireless equipment (subscription fees are not covered). The €20 million budget allocated for installation assistance has already benefited 142,000 households and aims to connect the 7 million households that are not eligible for fiber. Plans certified under the Digital Cohesion program are offered by local and national providers. To take advantage of this program, simply check your eligibility for fiber-optic service first, then contact the provider of your choice from the list to select the solution best suited to your situation.
The subsidy will be deducted directly from the first bill. Users do not need to take any action; everything is handled by the service provider.
