Technical issue on the tax agency's website: an extension granted to affected taxpayers

The Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP) has announced an extension of the 2023 income tax filing deadline for certain taxpayers, following a technical issue on the impots.gouv.fr website.

Those affected have been granted an extension until May 30 to file their tax returns.

A technical glitch affecting business income

In the midst of tax filing season, taxpayers required to report business income classified as non-commercial profits (BNC) or industrial and commercial profits (BIC) were unable to do so starting Tuesday. The online filing option for this income was unavailable at the time, and affected users were informed on the tax agency’s homepage that “every effort was being made to quickly resolve this issue.”

An extension granted for Zone 1

This technical issue particularly affected taxpayers in departments 1 through 19, whose filing deadline was originally set for Thursday, May 23, at 11:59 p.m. Consequently, as of Wednesday, the DGFiP granted an extension to these business taxpayers filing BNC or BIC income. They now have until May 30 to file their returns, as indicated on the impots.gouv.fr website.

Filing deadlines for other areas

May 30 is also the deadline for online tax filing for all taxpayers in Zone 2, which includes departments 20 through 54 (including the two Corsican departments). For taxpayers in departments 55 through 974/976 (Zone 3), the online filing period will end on Thursday, June 6, at 11:59 p.m.

Taxpayers affected by this technical issue are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this additional time to file their 2023 tax returns under the best possible conditions.
